Nereida Apaza (PE-Arequipa)

Nereida Apaza Mamani - lebt in Arequipa und Puno, Peru. Die Sticktechnik - vor allem für Heft-, Buchgestaltung,
Installationen - und Animationsfilme sind charakteristisch für ihrer Arbeit, wobei auch Malerei, Zeichnung,
Druck und Poesie eine wesentliche Rolle spielen.
Nereida Apaza kritisiert in ihrer Arbeit das restriktive Peruanische Bildungssystem, insbesondere die eindeutige
Kommunikation von Konzepten, Texten und Bildern, die Sie auf ironische und poetische Weise bricht.
Im Sommer 2024 erhielt sie die erste Ausgabe des AYNI Art Award (Kunst mit sozialer Wirkung, Schweizer Kulturfonds),
für das Projekt: „Du bist nicht allein“, eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt.
Nach ihrem Aufenthalt in Zürich wird sie nach Berlin kommen, wo sie während ihres 9-tägigen Aufenthaltes
eine Installation in- und für Flux bell.place erarbeitet, wir freuen uns.
Einige Tagen nach der Eröffnung wird Nereida im British Museum (LDN) seinum da über ihre Arbeit und Haltung
zusprechen (die durch das BM angekauften Werke sind dieses und nächstes Jahr zu sehen).
Based in Arequipa and Puno, Peru. The embroidery technique - especially for bookmaking and installations - and animation films become characteristic of her work, whereby painting, drawing, print and poetry play an essential role, too.
Nereida Apaza criticizes in her work the restrictive Peruvian educational system,
in particular the unambiguous communication of concepts, texts and images, which she breaks in an ironic and poetic way.
In summer 2024 she received the first edition of the AYNI Art Award (read; Art with Social Impact, Swiss Cultural Fund),
for the project: “You are not alone”, an engagement with the issue of gender-based violence.
After her stay in Zurich, she will come to Berlin, where during her 9-days stay she will create an installation in- and for Flux bell.place;
let us see what appears, we are curious!
After the opening she will be at British Museum (LDN) talking about work and attitude (the works purchased by the BM are these and next year on show).
